| Forty-two people died when a Slovakian military aircraft came down in a remote mountain area in northern Hungary. Only one person survived when the Soviet-designed An-24 crashed near Telkibanya on the Slovak border. The plane was carrying Slovak peacekeeping troops from Pristina in Kosovo to Kosice in Slovakia. It crashed at about 19:30 GMT on Thursday. The heavily wooded mountainside where the plane came down and bitter winter temperatures contributed to the destruction and hampered rescue efforts. The solve surviver - a Slovak first lieutenant- is now in hospital in Kosice, where a doctor said he was in a stable condition despite swelling to the brain. He was put into a medically-induced sleep. His wife, M.F., told Slovak TV that he had called her on his mobile phone shortly after the crash. "He told me that the aircraft had crashed and was on fire and was somewhere in the forest. He told me that he was alive and to alert the rescue services and police. Then the line went dead." According to the Hungarian Disaster Management Agency, the plane sliced through the tops of trees before crashing. It then caught fire and emergency crews battled to put out the blaze. Helicopters were reportedly unable to reach the crash site, and wreckage and bodies were scattered over a wide area. |

| На борту разбившигося в Венгрии самолета ВВС Словакии Ан-24 находились 43 человека. На борту были 28 военнослужащих-миротворцев мисии KFOR, возвращавшихся из Приштины (Косово) в Кошице (Словакия). Вместе с ними в самолете находились 7 человек, которые оказывали военным методическую помощь, а также 8 членов экипажа. Погибли 42, один выжил. Очевидцы авиакатастрофы утверждают, что самолет летел очень низко. Местные сельские жители опасались, что машина "заденет крыши домов". Горящие обломки разбившегося военно-транспортного самолета ВВС Словакии были обнаружены в четверг на востоке Венгрии в нескольких километрах от словацко-венгерской границы, недалеко от города Телкибания. |

Телкибания, само на няколко км от словашко -унгарската граница. Загинали са 42, а един е оцелял. Оцелелият успял да позвъни на съпругата си по мобилния си телефон от мястото на катастрофата. Самолетът летял твърде ниско, вероятно заради предстоящото кацане в Кошице (Словакия), отклонил се от маршрута с три км и се блъснал в един от хълмовете в този район. Почти напълно изгорял от обхваналите го пламъци. Парчета от машината и тела на загиналите били пръснати в голям район. |
