Катастрофа произошла в тот момент, когда машина возвращалась на базу. Погибли все находившиеся на борту вертолета 20 человек. Пятеро погибших служили в ВВС, остальные были сотрудниками Индо-тибетской пограничной полиции или подразделения по борьбе с чрезвычайными ситуациями при МВД.
