  • Iceland/ South Iceland/ Eyjafjallajokull Glacier – An Aerospatiale AS 350B2 Ecureuil helicopter (TF-HDW) crashed. No injuries.

  • US/ NJ/ Mount Holly/ South Jersey Regional Airport (KVAY) – An Agusta AW119 MKII helicopter (N119HF) made a hard landing.

  • Poland/ Smoldzino/ Czysta – A Mi-2 helicopter (SP-SFC) crashed into a field. Five from the 7 occupants on board were injured.

  • South Korea/ Mountain near Yanju - South Korean Military KAI RQ-101 Duck Hawk drone crashed.

  • US/ MD/ Frederick/ Frederick Municipal Airport (KFDK) – A training Robinson R22 BETA  helicopter (N802CP) experienced a loss of control during hover and impacted airport terrain.

  • Czech Republic/ Central Bohemia/ Prague-East/ Sulice – A Robinson R44 helicopter (OK-SPW) impacted terrain from a low altitude and came to rest inverted. No injuries.

  • US/ KY/ Middlesboro/ Middlesboro-Bell County Airport (1A6) – A Beechcraft V35B Bonanza (N702JS) crashed on landing injuring seriously the pilot.

  • US/ TX/ New Braunfels/ New Braunfels Regional Airport (KBAZ) – A Piper PA-24-250 Comanche (N7308P) crashed on landing. No injuries.

  • South Sudan/ South Kordofan State/ Abri - Sudanese Air Force drone shot down by rebels.

  • Brazil/ GO/ Aerodrome of Luziania – An Eurocopter EC-120B Colibri (PR-FPL) made an emergency landing, but crashed. No injuries.

  • Kenya/ Kilifi County/ Kijipwa Airfield – A Cessna 172 (5Y-CEM) crashed during a test flight. The pilot died.

  • Uruguay/ Azotea de Vera – An agricultural Piper PA-36 Brave 400 plane (CX-BST) crashed shortly after takeoff injuring the pilot.

  • Nepal/ Near Bhairahawa Airport - Buddha Air ATR-72 encountered severe turbulence and adverse weather conditions en route to Kathmandu. Six passengers and crew suffered serious injuries, and 10 suffered minor injuries.

  • Ukraine/ Slavyansk – Two Mi-24 helicopters shot down by separatists. Five occupants on board died.

  • Ukraine/ Slavyansk – A Mi-8MT helicopter was damaged by separatists. It sustained bullet holes by rifle fire.

  • US/ NM/ Orogrande - United States Army, 82nd Combat Aviation Bde CH-47 Chinook crashed killing 1 crew member, injuring 3 others on board.

  • Colombia/ 75KM south of Bucaramanga – A survey Piper PA 31- 310 Navajo (C-GSVM) crashed killing the 2 occupants, one of them - a Canadian.

  • UK/ Cambridgeshire/ Sibson/ Wansford Road/ Sibson airfield – A Grob G109B motor glider (G-CHLO) crashed into trees on takeoff injuring the pilot.

  • UK/ Sleaford/ Temple Bruer/ Temple Bruer/ Griffins Farm Lane – A light plane crashed. No injuries.

  • US/ CA/ Rosemead/ Whittier Narrows – A Bell-47G helicopter (N7895B) crashed on landing injuring slightly 1 occupant onboard.

  • Brazil/ Ceara State/ Beach Presidio – Aquiraz  - A Bell 206L-3 Long Ranger helicopter (PT-HTQ) crashed into the sea. No injuries.

  • US/ AZ/ Aguila/ near Sampley's Airport (28AZ) – An Aero Tek Zuni glider (N22DA) crashed killing the pilot.

  • US/ UT/ south of Draper/ near Jordan Narrows Park – A Pitts Model 12 plane (N177MF) force landed to a field. Both occupants onboard received minor injuries.

  • US/ CA/ Fairfield/ Travis Air Force Base (KSUU) – During an air show, a Boeing E75 Super Stearman (N68828) crash landed inverted. The pilot died.

  • Canada/ NS/ Hants County/ Stanley Airport (CCW4) – An Aero Adventure ultra-light plane (C-ITSX) crashed on approach killing the female pilot.

  • US/ PA/ near Philadelphia - Four passengers and two crew members were injured on Sunday when a US Airways A-330 jet (N287AY) hit severe turbulence after leaving Philadelphia International airport.

  • Syria/ Sean Military Airport Syrian Air Force MiG fighter jet was destroyed by rebels on the ground.

  • US/ GA/ Monroe – A Schleicher ASW20 glider (N777LR) crashed shortly after release from the tow plane.

  • US/ KY/ Bardwell/ County Road 1229/ private field – An American Champion 7GCAA Citabria 150 (N9588S) crashed on takeoff injuring slightly the 2 occupants.

  • Afghanistan/ Helmand Province/ Sangin District – ISAF helicopter suffered substantial damage after being struck by artillery and small arms fire. The crew carried out an emergency landing.

  • US/ NC/ Mocksville/ ENE of Sugar Valley Airport (5NC2) – A LSA SportCruiser Classic (N162US) crashed on landing injuring seriously the pilot.

  • Ukraine/ Slavyansk/ near Raigorodok - Ukranian Air Force Mi-24V combat helicopter shot down by separatists using heavy machine gun. The pilots were evacuated by Ukrainian commandos. Later on the same day the helicopter was destroyed by Su-25 ground-support bomber.

  • US/ CO/ Northglenn – A banner-towing Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee (N4519Y) crashed into a residential home and caught fire. No injuries.

  • US/ LA/ Hessmer – An agricultural Air Tractor AT-301 plane (N7309Z) made a forced landing to a rice field and rolled inverted. No injuries.

  • Spain/ Pyrenees - The French glider pilot was found after three days, hanging in a tree, on 8 May 2014, in the Spanish part of the Pyrenees. He was seriously injured.

  • UK/ Surrey/ Woking/ Fairoaks – A Cessna F172N Skyhawk made an emergency landing and it overturned.

  • Greece/ Thessaloniki/ near Nea Michaniona/ Aggelochori - Hellenic Air Force Canadair CL-415GR firefighter was engaged in a training exercise, when it flipped over upon landing on the water. Both crew members were taken to hospital.

  • US/ CA/ Santa Barbara/ Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (KSBA) – A Piper PA-23-250 Aztec (N82BL) experienced a collapse of the right main and nose landing gears during an emergency landing. The sole pilot onboard received a minor injury.

  • Germany/ Erkelenz-Kaulhausen – A Dyn'Aero MCR01 ultralight aircraft crashed into a field injuring critically the pilot.

  • Japan/ Hokkaido/ Shikabe town/ Shikabe aerodrome – A Scheibe SF 25C Falke (JA2529) bounced upon landing. The plane had some damage on the nose landing gear and the propeller. The pilot received minor injuries.

  • US/ CO/ Denver/ Centennial Airport (KAPA) – A Piper PA-46-310P Malibu (N4421R) experienced a collapse of the nose gear on landing.

  • US/ TN/ Covington/ near Covington Municipal Airport (M04) – A Piper PA-28-181 Archer II (N4506W) impacted heavily wooded terrain injuring seriously the pilot.

  • Mexico/ Piedras Negras International Airport (PDS/MMPG) – A Cessna U206 Skywagon (XB-FWQ) went off the runway on landing and caught fire. No injuries.

  • Ghana/ 20 mi off Takoradi/ West Cape Three Points – A Lukoil Eurocopter AS 365N Dauphin 2 (TU-HAA) crashed into the deep waters around the West Cape Three Points. Four occupants on board were killed and 4 (three Ghanaians and one British) escaped with injuries.

  • Colombia/ 45 km (28.1 mls) N of San Vicente del Caguan - ALIANSA Colombia Douglas DC-3C cargo plane (HK-4700) was destroyed when it impacted mountainous terrain. All 5 occupants onboard were killed.

  • Afghanistan/ Kabul Airport (KBL) - Ariana Afghan Airlines Boeing 737-4Y0 (YA-PIB), Flight FG-312, sustained substantial damage in a runway excursion accident after landing.

  • Latvia/ EVLA – A training Pitts S-2B Special (YL-CCU) crashed killing the pilot.

  • US/ NY/ Fountain County/ Attica/ East Covered Bridge Road – A Quad City Challenger II aircraft (N824SH) crashed killing the pilot.

  • US/ AZ/ Page/ Page Municipal Airport (KPGA) – A Cessna T207A Turbo Stationair 7 (N7311U ) carrying French tourists on a sightseeing flight, crashed on landing killing 1 passenger and injuring 4 others.

  • Iran/ Zahedan Airport (ZAH) – A Fokker 100 (EP-ASZ) made a forced landing and swerved to the left off the runway. The plane was damaged.

  • Niger/ Ganla – IRS Airlines Fokker 100 (5N-SIK) collapsed the right hand main landing gear and nose gear during landing.

  • Jamaica/ Sangster International Airport (MBK/MJKS) - Air Canada Rouge Airbus A319-114 (C-FZUG) made a hard landing injuring a passenger.

  • Spain/ Pilar de la Horadada/ Canada de Praes area – A ATEC 122 Zephyr 2000 plane (EC-ZKE) made an emergency landing in a field and flipped over. Both occupants sustained minor injuries.

  • Brazil/ RS/ Tres Vendas – A training Cessna 140A (PT-AGS) crashed killing the 2 occupants.

  • Brazil/ Parana/ Foz do Iguacu – A Cessna 182Q (PT-SNI) crashed in a cornfield. The pilot suffered minor injuries.

  • Italy/ Brescia province/ Torbole Casaglia – A small plane crashed in a field on approach. The pilot received serious injuries.

  • Italy/ Ceriano Laghetto (Monza province) – A Czech Sport Aircraft SportCruiser plane (OK-LAU) crashed, while it was performing a demonstrative flight. Both occupants onboard died.

  • Australia/ NSW/ Blue Mountains/ Lawson/ near Wallis Street – A Cirrus SR22 plane (N802DK) deployed the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) and landed in a lightly wooded area. The plane was damaged. No injuries.

  • Albania/ Fier/ Lushnje district/ Beach at Divjake – A Piper PA-32RT-300 Lance II (I-GRMP), on an apparent drug trafficking operation, experienced the collapse of the left main and nose landing gear upon landing on the beach. No injuries.

  • US/ TX/ San Antonio/ NW of Stinson Municipal Airport (KSSF) – A Mooney M20TN Acclaim plane (N563JK) crashed on approach. The sole pilot onboard received minor injuries.

  • US/ PA/ Letterkenny/ Roxbury Holiness Campground – A Just Aircraft Highlander experimental aircraft (N209SP) hit two trees and landed upside down injuring the passenger. The pilot was not injured.

  • US/ NC/ Indian Trail/ near Goose Creek Airport (28A) – A Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee plane (N15230) crashed shortly after takeoff injuring the 4 occupants.

  • Bolivia/ between La Asunta and Trinidad – A cargo Cessna U206G Stationair 6 plane (CP-1479) with a sole pilot on board is missing.

  • US/ GA/ Atlanta/ Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (KPDK) – A Chance Vought F4U-4 Corsair (N713JT) flipped over on landing due to a gust of wind.

  • Pakistan/ Islamabad/ Benazir Bhutto International Airport - Two ATR 42-500 planes from Pakistan International Airline sustained substantial damage when they were parked in a hangar at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad, after being hit by a speeding truck.

  • Guyana/ Region Seven/ Kurupung Bottom airstrip – Trans Guyana Britten Norman Islander experienced a hard landing, resulting in damage to the left landing gear. No injuries.

Laos/ Xiangkhoung's Pek district/ 2 km (1.3 mls) from Xieng Khouang Airport (XKH)

 

The wreckage of the crashed An-74 plane in LaosAn Antonov AN-74TK-300 military plane (RDPL-34020) carrying senior Lao government officials crashed Saturday in a wooded area as it approached an airport in the country's northeast, killing 16  people, including the defense minister and other high-ranking members of the country's ruling party. Only the nurse on board survived the crash.

17 people were on board the plane, which left Vientiane, Laos' capital, early Saturday morning to bring the group to an official ceremony in Xiangkhoung province, about 470 kilometers (290 miles) away.

Among those confirmed killed were Defense Minister Douangchay Phichit and his wife, Minister of Public Security Thongbanh Sengaphone, and the governor of Vientiane.

  • Saudi Arabia/ Riyadh/ Thumamah Park – A training light plane crashed killing the 2 occupants.

  • US/ AZ/ Peach Springs/ Canyon floor near Grand Canyon West Airport (1G4) – An Eurocopter AS 350B3 Ecureuil helicopter (N840PA) rolled onto its side, while the pilot was re-positioning the craft at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The pilot was killed.

  • US/ DE/ Georgetown/ SW of Sussex County Airport (KGED) – A Mooney M20K 231 plane (N200DP) crashed on a road.

  • UK/ Great Gransden village - Two gliders collided midair over Gransden. One pilot was forced to jump from the glider and land on the ground by parachute. The other glider managed to land safely.

  • Australia/ WA/ Kimberley/ Fitzroy Crossing – A Robinson R22 Beta II helicopter (VH-HAY) crashed into the cattle yard injuring the pilot.

  • US/ CO/ Yuma/ Yuma Municipal Airport (2V6) – A training Piper PA-28-181 Archer II (N9631C) experienced a loss of directional control on takeoff and impacted a ditch.

  • US/ NY/ New York/ Long Island Mac Arthur Airport (KISP) – A Beech V35B Bonanza (N4486S) made a belly landing.

  • Israel/ Northern Israel – A Crop Dusting Aircraft crashed injuring the pilot.

  • US/ AZ/ Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport - Allegiant Air McDonnell Douglas MD-83 passenger plane (N415NV),  Flight 142, was taxiing for departure, when the pilot reported smelling smoke. Six occupants received minor injuries during the emergency evacuation on the runway.

  • Brazil/ DF/ Sao Sebastiao – Brasília – A Rans S-6ES Coyote plane (PU-PFU) collided with another ultralight plane and crashed killing the pilot. His father, pilot of the other plane, managed to land safely, but went into shock and has been taken to hospital.

  • Zambia/ Lusaka West/ York Far – Zambian Air Force Saab MFI-15 Safari plane crashed killing the 2 pilots.

  • New Zealand/ Masterton/ Hood Aerodrome (NZMS) – A Tecnam P2002 Sierra (ZK-MVT) crashed and caught fire. The pilot received minor injuries.

  • Poland/ Tomaszów Bolesławiecki – A Robinson R22 Beta helicopter crashed. Both occupants onboard received minor injuries.

  • US/ CO/ Denver International Airport – A hail storm damaged six Airbus airplanes from Frontier Airlines.

  • US/ MA/ Beverly/ Beverly Municipal Airport (KBVY) – A Bell 206L-4 LongRanger helicopter (N55SL) crash-landed shortly after takeoff. No injuries.

Russian chopper crashes into lake killing 16

Russia/ Murmansk Oblast/ Munozero lake - Sixteen people were killed after a helicopter crashed into the Munozero lake in northwestern Russia. Among victims were Deputy Governor of Murmansk Region, Minister of Ecology of Murmansk Region, CEO and Deputy CEO of OJSC Apatite. The Mi-8AMT helicopter (RA-22423) was carrying 18 people -- five crew and 13 passengers -- when it crashed in a remote area in the northwestern Murmansk region on Saturday. Two people were injured and hospitalised and the rest are considered missing. The helicopter belongs to a company called Apatit (Apatite), maker of components for fertilisers. Investigators named a possible aircraft malfunction and bad weather as likely causes of the crash. The black box for parameters of the flight was found.
