Десет военнослужащи загинаха
, а други трима са превозени със самолет до Алмата в крайно тежко състояние. Вертолетът Ми-8 с тричленен екипаж и подразделение от трима офицери и 7 войници от група „Арлан” са били вдигнати по тревога за да не допуснат пресичането на границата от 6-ма въоръжени бегълци от узбекска колония. Последните при бягството си убили двама охранители от колонията и присвоили оръжието им -  автомати Калашников. 
При движението си към границата, според местни медии, нахлули в детска градина убивайки възпитател и 3-годишно дете. Вертолетът катастрофирал при опита си да се приземи, след като бегълците били забелязани от въздуха. Намерени са бордовите му самописци и са предадени за разчитане. Образувано е дело от Военната прокуратура на Казахстан и се води разследване по случая.

Вертолет МИ-8, принадлежащий пограничной службе КНБ Казахстана, потерпел аварию в Угамском ущелье во вторник во время поисковой операции на участке казахстанско-узбекской границы. В катастрофе
погибли десять военнослужащих, трое с различными травмами были госпитализированы в больницы города Чимкента (административный центр Южно -Казахстанской области). Позже всех троих пострадавших самолетом перевезли в Алматы, в военный госпиталь КНБ.
Стали известны подробности трагедии. Экипаж Ми-8 был поднят по тревоге с разведывательно-поисковой группой "Арлан" Сарыагарского пограничного отряда регионального управления "Онтустик" после сообщения узбекских пограничников о том, что в сторону границы с Казахстаном направляется группа вооруженных людей. Как выяснилось, это были преступники, сбежавшие из одной из узбекских колоний. Они убили двоих охранников, завладели их автоматами и, по всей видимости, намеревались скрыться в горах. Вертолет разбился в момент посадки, после того как экипаж обнаружил беглецов с воздуха.
В районе крушения вертолета найдены бортовые самописцы, они переданы специалистам для расшифровки.
Военная прокуратура возбудила уголовное дело по факту крушения.

A border guards helicopter has crashed in southern Kazakhstan,
killing 10 people.
Another three people on board the MI-8 helicopter were injured. The helicopter was carrying three officers, seven contract soldiers and three crew members onboard. All the victims were members of the border security force - "Arlan". All those hospitalized in Shymkent were in a moderately grave condition.
The incident happened in the remote Ugamsk Gorge. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
The MI-8 was heading to the border with Uzbekistan after reports that a group of armed criminals  were planning to cross the border.

Nomad N.24 with registration number P 837 was supposed to land at Tarakan at 14.30 pm but contact with it was lost at 14.24 pm. local time.
"Five people were saved including the pilot and co-pilot of the plane," the head of public relations of the regional police command, Senior Commissioner Rudi Pranoto said.
They are first lieutenant Erwin (pilot), first lieutenant Syaiful (co-pilot), sergeant major Sadikin (technician), Uhip and Muhamir.
"The five survivors arrived at the Tarakan port at 9.45 pm and are now being treated at the hospital," he said. Erwin, Syaiful and Sadikin suffered serious injuries while Uhip and Muhamir suffered only minor ones, Rudi said. "Those who died in the incident were
Yakob Kayang, Sri Hardi and two others whose identities were not yet known," he said. The wreckage of the plane was found upside down in a fish pond in Sekatak in the district of Bulungan, East Kalimantan.
According to villagers the plane broke into two with
four of its passengers dead and five others seriously wounded lying in the fish pond.

It has been reported that the aircraft suffered an engine failure on take off and that the crew declared an emergency. The aircraft then crashed onto a vacant lot and slid into primary school grounds at Merebank approximately 400m from the runway and broke up. The plane is said to have struck a municipal female worker on the ground who was cleaning the street. The crew consisting of two pilots and a flight attendant were seriously injured and have been airlifted to the St Augustine's hospital by helicopter. The captain is in critical condition with serious leg injuries. The others were reported as being in stable condition.
