| Nine killed in plane crash in northern Peru 06.03.2013/ 16:30 GMT Peru/ La Libertad region/ near Pias Airport Aero Transporte SA - ATSA Beechcraft B200 King Air plane (OB-1992-P) carrying workers of Minera Aurifera Retamas ( Marsa) crashed Wednesday morning in the highlands of northern Peru's La Libertad region, killing all nine people on board. The victims include two employees of Marsa and five contractors. The other victims were identified as pilot J. Wasser and copilot M. Ledesma. The plane was en route to the La Libertad district of Pias from Lima. According to regional police chief Colonel Roger Torres, due to bad weather the plane got caught up in power cables before crashing. |

The plane had taken off from the city of Kananga in the country's southwest, stopped in Lodja and was on its way to Goma before the crash. The airplane reportedly came down in a residential area of Goma as it was preparing to land in poor weather.
