China/ Heilongjiang/ Yichun/ Lindu Airport (ZYLD)

A
Henan Airlines (former Kunpeng Airlines) Embraer ERJ-190, registration B-3130 performing flight VD-8387 from Harbin to Yichun (China) with 91 passengers and 5 crew, burst into flames after the aircraft overran the runway while landing in Yichun at 21:36L (13:36 UTC). 42 people perished, 3 people received serious injuries and 51 minor injuries.
There was heavy fog in the area at the time. One survivor told China Central Television the plane hit turbulence as it descended.
The crash and subsequent fire were so severe that little of the fuselage remained, though the charred tail was still largely intact.
The man said he and other passengers escaped through a hole near the front of the plane. "We were trying to open the (emergency exits) but they wouldn't open. Then the smoke came in ..."
Lindu airport located 9km (4.8nm) from the city center in the Yichun Forest , is capable to accept Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and similiar aircraft with a runway length of 2400 meters (7870 feet) and width of 45 meters (150 feet). The runway 12/30 features PAPIs for both ends, VOR/DME and NDB approaches are available for both ends.
The black-box of the crashed passenger plane is found. A 20-strong team of CAAC officials and technicians have reportedly already left for Yichun City to begin an investigation.

Firefighting Plane Crash in Canada Kills Two

01.08.2010/ 04:00 GMT
Canada/BC/15 km S of Lytton -
Two pilots were confirmed dead Sunday in the crash of a Canadian waterbombing plane that was fighting a forest fire.
The wildfire and steep terrain kept rescue workers from reaching the crash site after the plane went down Saturday night about 100 miles northeast of Vancouver.
The
Convair CV-580 Airtanker plane (C-FKFY), carrying two pilots, was chartered by the provincial government from Conair in Abbotsford, British Columbia, to battle wildfires about 11 miles south of Lytton. Conair had a second plane shadowing the one that crashed and was able to pinpoint the location of the site.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed the pilots' deaths, and said the plane was badly damaged after it crashed and burst into flames.
